About product
The Victron Energy Quattro 24/5000/120-100/100 120V is a 5,000VA pure sine wave inverter charger for 24VDC systems that sets itself apart from single-input competitors with two independent AC inputs, two AC outputs, and the PowerAssist function that lets a generator or shore power supply supplement—rather than replace—battery-backed inverter output. Designed for installations where two AC sources must be managed intelligently and loads require uninterrupted power, it is the core of Victron's most capable inverter charger line.
Most inverter chargers accept a single AC source—either grid or generator, never both simultaneously. The Quattro accepts two independent AC inputs and automatically connects to whichever source is active, switching between them without manual intervention. This allows a utility grid connection and a standby generator to be wired permanently, with the Quattro selecting the active source and transferring between them seamlessly. The PowerControl function sets a current limit on each AC input so the Quattro accounts for other running loads before using remaining capacity for battery charging—preventing the generator or utility supply from being overloaded when other appliances are drawing current.
PowerAssist inverts the conventional logic of an inverter charger. Rather than the battery being a backup that kicks in only when AC fails, PowerAssist allows the battery to actively supplement an AC source that is too small for the current load—drawing from both simultaneously. When a generator rated below peak demand is connected, the Quattro pulls the shortfall from the battery in real time, preventing the generator from overloading. When peak demand passes, the spare generator capacity recharges the battery. This allows smaller, quieter, more fuel-efficient generators to be used in installations that would otherwise require a larger unit.
The Quattro provides two separate AC output circuits. The main output transfers to battery-backed inverter power in under 20ms when AC input fails—fast enough that computers, UPS-dependent equipment, and sensitive electronics continue operating without interruption. The second auxiliary output is live only when AC power is present on one of the inputs, making it the correct connection point for loads that should never draw from the battery—water heaters, resistance heating elements, and other high-consumption appliances that would deplete storage unnecessarily during an outage.
The Quattro integrates natively into Victron's VE.Bus architecture, enabling parallel operation, split-phase and three-phase configuration, and full system integration with GX devices such as the Cerbo GX or Ekrano GX. When a GX device is connected, the system is accessible through Victron's VRM (Victron Remote Management) portal for free remote monitoring, remote settings changes, and alarm notifications by email or push. On-site control options include the Digital Multi Control Panel, VE.Bus Smart Dongle for Bluetooth access via the VictronConnect app, and the Interface MK3-USB for configuration via VEConfigure software. Three programmable relays support general alarm, DC undervoltage signaling, and automatic generator start/stop.
The Quattro 24/5000/120-100/100 operates on a 24V battery bank across 19–33VDC and includes a battery temperature sensor for charge compensation. AC wiring uses M6 bolt terminals; battery connections use four M8 bolts (two positive, two negative) supporting large-gauge cabling for the 120A charge current. It is compatible with the full range of Victron MPPT solar chargers, GX monitoring devices, battery monitors (BMV-712, SmartShunt), and Victron lithium battery systems. Off-grid, grid-interactive, and self-consumption configurations involving MPPT solar chargers can be set up using Victron's Assistant software framework.
The Victron Energy Quattro 24/5000/120-100/100 120V is the right choice for 24V installations that need more than a basic inverter charger: dual AC source management, PowerAssist generator supplementation, two independently switched AC outputs, and deep integration with Victron's VE.Bus and VRM ecosystem. For marine, off-grid, and critical backup applications where a single AC input is not enough and load management must be automatic and precise, the Quattro delivers a level of flexibility and system intelligence that single-input inverter chargers cannot match.
