About product
EG4 6000XP — 6kW Split-Phase All-in-One Off-Grid Inverter/Charger
The EG4 6000XP is a compact, feature-loaded all-in-one off-grid inverter/charger built for homeowners, DIY solar builders, and off-grid enthusiasts who want professional-grade performance without the complexity of a multi-component system. Combining a 6,000W split-phase inverter, dual MPPT solar charge controller, 115A battery charger, integrated switchgear, generator port, and Wi-Fi monitoring into a single slim enclosure, the 6000XP delivers everything you need to power a home or cabin entirely from solar and battery — at a price point that makes off-grid energy more accessible than ever.
The 6000XP delivers 6,000W of continuous AC output at 120/240V split-phase, covering both standard 120V household circuits and 240V loads like well pumps, electric dryers, and HVAC equipment from a single unit. When motor-start loads demand a burst of extra power, the inverter handles surges up to 12,000W — ensuring even your most demanding appliances start reliably without tripping the system or interrupting other loads.
Two independent MPPT charge controllers accept up to 8,000W of combined PV input across a DC voltage range of 100–480V. Each MPPT operates at 99% tracking efficiency — meaning virtually all available solar energy is captured and converted, with minimal waste. Dual MPPT channels allow separate string wiring from different roof orientations or arrays, optimizing production independently from each source without shading losses bleeding between strings.
With a maximum PV input voltage of 480VDC, the 6000XP accepts longer, higher-voltage strings than many competing inverters in its class. Higher string voltages mean fewer parallel strings, shorter home runs, smaller wire gauges, and lower overall balance-of-system costs — a meaningful advantage for systems with longer distances between panels and inverter, or for builders looking to minimize wiring labor and material expense.
A dedicated generator input port allows direct generator connection for up to 7kW of generator power — without a separate transfer switch. The 6000XP's Generator Boost feature takes this a step further: when loads exceed what the generator alone can supply, the inverter automatically draws supplemental power from solar and battery to cover the gap. The result is seamless load coverage even with a smaller, more affordable generator, and far less generator runtime than a conventional backup setup would require.
The 6000XP's transformerless architecture delivers higher efficiency, reduced weight at just 52.9 lbs, and a slimmer profile at 18" × 25.5" × 5.25" — making it one of the most installation-friendly inverters in its output class. Built-in breakers and disconnects eliminate the need for a separate external switchgear enclosure, reducing both material cost and installation complexity while keeping the final installation clean and code-compliant.
Unlike many competing inverters that are limited to indoor installation in climates with cold winters, the 6000XP includes built-in heaters that keep internal components within operating temperature range in cold outdoor environments. This outdoor-capable design expands installation flexibility, allows mounting in unheated outbuildings, garages, and exterior walls, and removes one of the most common constraints for off-grid installations in northern climates.
The 6000XP supports closed-loop BMS communication with EG4's own 48V lithium battery line as well as a wide range of third-party battery brands via CAN and RS485 protocols. Closed-loop communication gives the inverter direct visibility into battery voltage, current, state-of-charge, and cell-level data from the BMS — enabling more precise charge management, longer battery life, and safer operation than open-loop voltage-based charging alone. For non-communicating batteries, open-loop mode supports any 48V chemistry including AGM and flooded lead-acid.
The integrated 115A battery charger replenishes your battery bank quickly from solar, grid, or generator input. Whether you're recovering from a multi-day cloudy stretch or topping off before a storm, the 6000XP's high-amperage charger ensures your batteries are ready when you need them most.
For larger homes, farms, or light commercial properties requiring more than 6kW, up to 16 EG4 6000XP units can be connected in parallel for a combined continuous output of 96kW. This modular approach lets you start with a single inverter sized to current needs and expand capacity in 6kW increments as loads grow — without replacing existing hardware or redesigning the system.
The 6000XP supports four connectivity options — Wi-Fi, 4G cellular, LAN, and RS485 — giving installers maximum flexibility to establish remote monitoring in any environment, including locations without reliable internet. Real-time system data including solar production, battery state-of-charge, load consumption, and fault codes are accessible through the EG4 Monitoring App from any smartphone or browser. A built-in LCD screen on the unit provides local visibility for installation, commissioning, and field diagnostics.
The EG4 6000XP carries both UL 1741 and UL 9540 certifications — covering the inverter itself and its application in energy storage systems respectively. These dual certifications satisfy the listing requirements of most U.S. authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) for both solar and battery installations, simplifying the permitting process and accelerating project approval.
The 6000XP is backed by a 5-year manufacturer warranty, reflecting EG4's confidence in the durability and reliability of the platform.
