The 16kWh Whole Home Backup: Midnite Solar 48V LiFePO4 Battery (MidNiteSolar version) 18kW Sol-Ark Hybrid Inverter ESS Kit is a pre-engineered solar battery backup system that pairs a 16kWh wall-mount LiFePO4 battery with a 18,000W hybrid inverter — both selected and verified for full closed-loop compatibility. Rather than sourcing and cross-referencing components individually, this ESS kit gives residential and light commercial buyers a single, pre-matched 48V energy storage solution ready for backup power, solar self-consumption, or off-grid operation.
DC battery cables not included — we recommend 4/0 AWG copper cable with hydraulic-crimped ring terminals for the inverter-to-battery run.

Building an energy storage system from separate components means hours of cross-referencing voltage windows, charge rate tolerances, and communication protocols — with no guarantee the pieces will actually work together. This kit eliminates that entirely. The MNPowerflo 16 and the Sol-Ark 18K-2P-LV share a common 48V architecture and communicate over CAN/RS485 using the PYLON protocol, so the inverter reads battery state of charge directly from the BMS for automatic charge management
The MNPowerflo 16 communicates with the Sol-Ark 18K-2P-LV via CAN/RS485 for closed-loop BMS communication — the inverter actively monitors state of charge and adjusts charging in real time. Solar panels feed into the inverter's 3 MPPT inputs (500Vdc max OCV, up to 32.4kW supported PV), which charges the 48V battery bank and simultaneously supplies connected loads at 120/240Vac split-phase. When grid or generator power is available (120/240Vac input), the inverter uses it as a secondary charge source or pass-through for loads during low-solar periods. The 10ms transfer switch keeps connected equipment running through brief outages. Buyers will also need solar panels and racking, AC/DC overcurrent protection per local electrical code, 4/0 AWG copper battery cables with hydraulic-crimped ring terminals, and conduit.
Where most backup kits use generic lithium cells with short warranties, this pairing uses EVE A grade LiFePO4 cells — the same grade used in electric vehicles — backed by MidNite Solar's industry-leading 15-year warranty and rated for 8,000 cycles at 77°F. The Sol-Ark 18K-2P-LV adds exceptional headroom: 32,400W of supported PV input, 350A continuous battery charge/discharge, and a 36,000W surge rating for 10 seconds mean the system starts HVAC units, well pumps, and motor loads without hesitation — even in a full grid-down scenario. For buyers who want a professionally matched ESS without the integration risk, this 16kWh Whole Home Backup kit available through A1 SolarStore pairs an IP65-rated, 8,000-cycle battery with one of the most capable residential hybrid inverters on the market.
