The EG4® 18kPV Hybrid Inverter (EG4INV18KPV00V2) is a 48V split-phase, all-in-one hybrid inverter/charger built to utilize up to 18kW of PV while continuously outputting 12kW of power and charging the battery bank simultaneously. Measuring 34.3 × 20.5 × 11.2 in. (870 × 520 × 285 mm) and weighing 121 lbs. (55 kg), it carries a NEMA 4X outdoor rating for flexible installation. Up to 10 units can be paralleled for 120kW of AC output, with multiple stations and units controlled through the EG4 monitoring software.
The 18kPV is capable of running entirely off the grid, using grid assist to draw from the utility only when needed, or selling excess power back to the grid — all from the same unit. Its high-frequency, transformerless design delivers up to 97.5% maximum efficiency PV-to-grid and 99.9% PV-to-battery, while closed-loop communication with EG4 48V batteries (and other brands, with a firmware update required for LifePower4) keeps charge and discharge cycles coordinated automatically. Paired with the EG4 monitoring software, installers and owners get a single view into production, consumption, and battery state across the whole system.
Three MPPTs (2 inputs on MPPT1, 1 each on MPPT2 and MPPT3) accept up to 600VDC, with a 140–500VDC operating range and a 100VDC startup voltage — giving installers room to string PV for up to 21kW of recommended input per unit. On the battery side, the 18kPV supports 48VDC lead-acid or lithium banks at up to 250A of charge/discharge current, communicating over RS485 for closed-loop coordination with EG4 batteries and other major brands. AC output is high-frequency split-phase, configurable for a single 120/240V unit or 120/208V service, with a default 20ms transfer time (10ms configurable) and a 90A AC bypass for generator integration. The mountable Wi-Fi device connects the unit to the EG4 app or EG4 Monitor platform, and up to 10 units can be paralleled where a single inverter isn't enough.
The 18kPV packs off-grid capability, grid-assist, AC coupling, and battery charging into a single transformerless unit, cutting down on the extra switchgear many hybrid installations otherwise require. Its 600VDC PV input and 21kW recommended solar capacity per unit reduce combiner-box needs on larger arrays, while closed-loop communication with EG4 and third-party 48V batteries keeps the system self-managing. Backed by a 10-year standard warranty and a full slate of NEC 2020 and IEEE 1547 certifications, it's built to stay code-current while scaling from a single residential install up to a 120kW parallel commercial system.
