About product

NeuShield™ is manufactured independently of your solar panel manufacturer. Applying this coating may affect your panel's manufacturer warranty.
We recommend confirming compatibility with your panel manufacturer prior to use. A1 Solarstore is not liable for any change in warranty status resulting from use of this product.

NeuShield™ is a transparent, water-based protective coating manufactured by Phazebreak Coatings and engineered specifically for photovoltaic module glass. Sold here in a 1-quart (32 fl. oz.) can, it applies as a single thin coat and cures into a hydrophilic, self-cleaning, anti-fungal, impact-resistant film that helps panels shed dirt and moisture, resist hail impact, and stay free of algae and fungal growth. One quart covers roughly 90–110 sq. ft. of panel surface — about 5–6 standard-size solar modules.

Key specifications

  • Coverage: ~90–110 sq. ft. per quart (approx. 5–6 standard-size solar modules); manufacturer-rated at 425 sq. ft. per gallon
  • Application: single thin coat, 2–4 mils wet/dry film build; apply by low-pressure spray, brush, or roller (¼″–⅜″ nap)
  • Dry & cure times (77°F, 50% RH): tack-free in 30 min; dry to handle in 1 hr; through-dry in 3 hrs; full cure in 7 hrs
  • Formulation: water-based, VOC <1%, transparent gloss finish, PFAS-free
  • Adhesion: 5B rating (ASTM D-3359)
  • Impact resistance: 160 lb/in² (ASTM D-2794); independently tested to withstand a 45 mm hailstone at 75 mph across 5 direct impacts with no cracking or breakage (HAAG Research & Testing, per IEC 61215-2 MQT 17 parameters)
  • UV & gloss retention: 95% gloss retention after 1,000 hours of QUV exposure (ASTM G-154)
  • Anti-fungal protection: formulated additive prevented fungal and algae growth in ASTM D5589/D5590 dry-film resistance testing
  • Environmental & safety: independent Environmental Impact Assessment found negligible potential for adverse environmental impact when applied as directed; not classified as hazardous under GHS; no ingredient requiring a California Prop 65 warning; SDS available on request

Two things quietly cut into panel output: dirt and damage

Soiling alone accounts for an estimated 2–5% of global PV output loss, and can reach 30–50% in arid, high-dust climates if panels go uncleaned. Biofilms — fungus, algae, and lichen — are harder to solve: once they anchor to the glass they block light, promote hot spots, and are difficult to remove without risking the panel surface. Add in the unpredictability of hail, and most of the damage a panel sustains over its lifetime happens quietly, between cleaning cycles and without an obvious trigger. NeuShield's hydrophilic surface lets rain and moisture carry dust and debris away before it cements onto the glass, its anti-fungal additive is formulated to prevent biofilm from taking hold in the first place, and its cured film is independently tested to absorb hail impacts without cracking. In field testing, coated modules showed a measurable power-output gain within days of application compared to uncoated modules at the same site.

Key Applications

  • Residential rooftop systems — a single quart is sized for a typical home array, applied by brush, roller, or a standard low-pressure sprayer.
  • Small commercial and C&I rooftops — order multiple quarts to match total module count; each quart covers approximately 5–6 panels.
  • Hail-prone regions — independently tested against 45 mm hail at 75 mph, relevant for installations across the central and southern U.S. hail corridor.
  • Hot, humid, or coastal climates — where fungal and algae growth on panel glass is most likely to take hold.
  • Desert and high-soiling climates — where dust accumulation and cemented soiling from morning dew cause the steepest output losses.

Application & coverage

Surface must be clean, dry, and free of contamination before application; substrate temperature should be above 40°F (4°C). Stir slowly for 3 minutes before use. NeuShield can be applied with a low-pressure spray gun (approx. 15–18 psi with an HVLP or top-container gun, or approx. 32 psi with a siphon/pot gun), or by brush/roller using a ¼″ to ⅜″ nap roller, maintaining a wet edge throughout. Only one thin coat is required — additional coats are not necessary and do not improve performance. Clean equipment immediately after use with soap and water.

Why choose the NeuShield™ 1-Quart Can?

The 1-quart can is sized for smaller residential and light commercial jobs — installers with their own spray, brush, or roller equipment get the same hail-tested, self-cleaning, anti-fungal formulation used across Phazebreak's larger commercial packaging, without paying for more coating than the job requires. Because NeuShield cures with a single thin coat, labor time stays low even on multi-panel arrays, and the water-based, low-VOC formulation keeps cleanup and job-site handling simple.
