The Discover Energy 48-48-5120-H is a 48V 100Ah LiFePO4 battery engineered for residential off-grid solar and whole-home backup power applications. Housed in a standard 19-inch 3U rackmount chassis, this 5.12 kWh energy storage module ships with 100% usable depth of discharge, a fourth-generation high-current BMS, and integrated self-heating — making it one of the more installation-ready rack-mount lithium batteries available for North American residential systems.
Most lithium batteries are derated to 80–90% usable capacity to preserve cycle life. The 48-48-5120-H is rated for 100% depth of discharge, meaning all 5.12 kWh is available to the load — not just on paper. This is enabled by the GEN-4 BMS, which actively manages cell balancing, low-voltage disconnect at 43.2V under load, and real-time charge rate optimization for up to 40% faster recharge from 0 to 100% state of charge compared to fixed-rate alternatives. For a home backup application, that translates directly into more runtime between charges and faster recovery from a deep discharge event.
The integrated self-heating element activates automatically between 1.4°F and 46.4°F (-17°C and 8°C), allowing the battery to accept charge in ambient conditions that would put a non-heated lithium battery into protection mode.
