About product
The MK Battery Deka 8GU1H is a 12V 36Ah valve-regulated, gelled-electrolyte deep-cycle battery built on sulfuric acid thixotropic gel technology with a lead-calcium plate alloy. Rated at 36Ah (C/100 rate), it is engineered for applications that demand repeated deep discharges — including solar energy storage, golf carts, RV and marine house loads, and home backup systems — all in a sealed, non-spillable, position-flexible package rated for use in extreme temperatures down to -76°F (-60°C).
Flooded lead-acid batteries require regular water top-offs, forced upright installation, and dedicated venting — drawbacks that make them impractical in boats, RVs, and enclosed solar enclosures. The 8GU1H's thixotropic gel construction eliminates all three: the gelled electrolyte cannot spill regardless of orientation, the self-sealing VRLA vent manages internal pressure automatically, and the battery operates reliably across an extraordinary -76°F to 140°F temperature range that neither AGM nor standard gel batteries can match. With a recommended depth of discharge between 50% and 80%, it sustains more usable cycles over its service life compared to conventional sealed batteries routinely discharged below that threshold.
The 8GU1H is compatible with any 12V solar charge controller — PWM or MPPT — configured to a gel charge profile. Cycle charge voltage should be set to 13.8–14.6V; float voltage to 13.4–13.6V. Multiple units can be wired in series to build 24V or 48V battery banks, or in parallel to increase total Ah capacity while remaining at 12V. Always use a charger that supports gel chemistry settings — do not use AGM-only or standard flooded profiles, as overcharging a gel battery will cause permanent capacity loss.
The 8GU1H is manufactured by East Penn Manufacturing in the United States and distributed by MK Battery, ensuring high quality and consistent production standards.
The Deka 8GU1H brings gel electrolyte technology's superior deep-cycle performance and extreme-temperature resilience to compact 12V applications where flooded and standard AGM batteries fall short. Its extraordinary -76°F to 140°F operating range, non-spillable DOT/IATA/ICAO-rated construction, and lead-calcium plate alloy make it one of the most capable 12V 36Ah gel deep-cycle batteries available for buyers who need reliable performance in demanding, real-world conditions across all climates and environments.
