The spec sheet notes "connection of MPPT inputs in parallel" and notes A and B* yet there is no explanation on the spec sheet anywhere of A and B. What does MPPT in parallel mean?

Parallel MPPT Mode: The device combines the inputs from both channels (A and B) internally and tracks a single maximum power point for the entire array. This mode is slightly more efficient overall when all connected panels are facing the same direction and receive similar sunlight conditions, essentially treating the two inputs as one large input.

It supports up to 7,680 Wp of PV array input and provides 10,000 W charging power with intelligent battery management. Compatible with BYD high-voltage batteries, it enables seamless energy storage for self-consumption, load shifting, and backup applications, offering true energy independence.

Fast and simple installation

Engineered for streamlined setup, the Smart Energy inverter’s 2-in-1 design reduces wall space and wiring requirements. Installers can commission the system quickly using the SMA 360° app, which simplifies configuration via mobile scanning and connection. The built-in SunSpec RSD transmitter ensures rapid shutdown compliance without external devices, making installation faster and safer.

Reliable and intelligent performance

With a 10-year standard warranty (extendable to 25 years), the Sunny Boy Smart Energy delivers long-term reliability and low maintenance. The inverter’s integrated system manager allows centralized control of up to five inverters and an SMA Energy Meter. It includes SMA’s Backup Secure feature, providing up to 1,920 W of emergency power during outages—available even without a connected battery.

Smart connectivity and energy management

Powered by ennexOS, SMA’s intelligent energy management platform, this inverter offers full system monitoring via WLAN, Ethernet, Modbus, and RS-485. Homeowners can monitor and control system performance through the SMA Energy app or OPTICS RE portal, gaining real-time insights into solar generation, battery status, and grid interaction.
