What is a 100Ah lithium battery?

The "100Ah" rating tells you how much charge a battery holds. A lithium 100ah battery can deliver 100 amps for 1 hour, or 10 amps for 10 hours — and unlike lead-acid, you can use nearly all of that without damaging it.

Most 12v 100ah lithium-ion battery models use Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) chemistry. This isn't the same as the lithium-ion cells in your phone or laptop. LiFePO4 is built for deep cycle use: repeated charge and discharge over years of service.

Every quality 12v 100ah LiFePO4 lithium battery has a built-in Battery Management System (BMS). The BMS handles overcharge, over-discharge, short circuits, and temperature extremes — which is why lithium 100ah battery units need almost no maintenance. They're also much lighter: a 12V unit typically weighs 20–27 lbs, compared to 60–70 lbs for an AGM with the same rating.

100Ah lithium vs. AGM and lead-acid batteries

A 100ah lithium battery 12v gives you nearly twice the usable energy of an equivalent AGM, because AGM batteries can only be discharged to about 50% before their lifespan starts shortening.

Voltage options — which one do you need?

Pick the voltage your equipment runs on. Mixing voltages doesn't work. Here's what each option is actually used for.

12V — the most flexible option

The 12v 100ah lithium battery covers the widest range of uses: RVs, camping setups, small solar systems, kayaks, bass boats. A 12v lithium battery 100ah holds 1,280Wh, enough to run a 12V fridge, lights, a CPAP, or a trolling motor through a full day.

24V — more output, same footprint

Two 12V 100Ah batteries wired in series give you a 24V system. A 24v 100ah lithium-ion battery suits larger off-grid solar setups and trolling motors in the 70–100 lb thrust range. A reasonable step up when 12V isn't quite enough but you don't need a full 48V system.

36V — golf carts and high-thrust trolling motors

The 36v 100ah lithium battery holds 3,840Wh and is built for 36V golf carts (Club Car, EZGO, Yamaha) and 36v 100ah lithium trolling motor setups that need 100–120 lb of thrust. A single 36 volt lithium battery 100ah replaces three 12V lead-acid batteries at about half the weight.

48V — home solar and golf carts

The 48v 100ah lithium battery handles residential solar storage and 48V golf carts. A 48v 100ah lithium-ion battery holds 5.12 kWh per unit and can be stacked into larger banks. The 48v 100ah lithium golf cart battery fits most modern 48V cart models and gives you considerably more range than lead-acid.

Best applications by use case

Trolling motors

The lithium trolling motor battery 12v 100ah has become the default for serious anglers. At half throttle, expect 4–5 hours of runtime; at low speed, up to 8–10 hours. That's about twice what a 100Ah lead-acid delivers, because you're working with the full capacity rather than half.

LiFePO4 chemistry is the baseline — not a premium feature. It lasts 5–10x longer than AGM and delivers its full rated capacity rather than half.
