About product

Description

REC Black 355 is a PV module fit for both residential and commercial applications. REC engineers made the TwinPeak series durable and efficient while minimizing the amount of useful space required for their operation. This panel takes full advantage of the Passivated Emitter Rear Contact (PERC) technology that allows it to capture up to 12% more energy. All thanks to a reflective layer on the back. This design maximizes the number of photons absorbed by solar cells.

Another advantage is the half-cut cell technology. Black 355 has solar cells half the size of those installed in conventional panels. The main benefits are decreased power loss, improved longevity and better low-light performance. Given its size and weight, Black 355 efficiency of 19.4% is quite impressive. REC offers 25 years of product warranty and guarantees 84.8% of original performance after 25 years of operation.

  • 120 half-cut PERC cells
  • 355 W nameplate capacity
  • 19.4% efficiency
  • 1000 V DC maximum system voltage
  • MC4 connectors
  • 25 years of product and 25 years of performance warranty

High efficiency of 19.4%

REC TwinPeak panels take full advantage of the company’s technologies that have won REC multiple awards. This PERC option offers higher power output per square foot of PV modules. This means quicker installation times and fewer clamps and racks. All of which reduces your overall costs, shortening the payback time.

Exceptional performance in scorching weather

At high working temperatures, a low temperature coefficient equals increased energy generation. Every 1.8°F over 77°F results in a model's efficiency loss of just 0.34 percent.

High quality standards

Multiple tests are part of the REC tight production requirements, which offer the highest level of quality assurance. Because of the facilities' high degree of automation, the business is able to uphold strict standards and minimize the number of warranty claims to an absolute minimum.

Low degradation for increased lifespan

The amount of power output loss experienced by these panels during the first year of operation will not exceed 2%. The average yearly power drop from the second to the 25th year will not surpass 0.55%. After 25 years, the module will still produce more than 84.8% of its initial output.

Certified for the most challenging environmental conditions

Black 355 is resistant to PID, salt, acid and ammonia. It can also withstand up to 7000 Pa mechanical load on the front and 4000 Pa on the back. Such robustness is mainly due to the 1.18" thick anodized aluminum frame and a layer of protective glass.

Before choosing a brand of panels, we did some reading and talked to our installer. Since Tesla is the first brand that springs to mind, that's the one we were leaning toward. Unfortunately, we had second thoughts after reading some bad Tesla customer service ratings. It was explained to us that REC were just as nice, if not better looking, and came with the same warranty as the more expensive brand. We don't regret this decision

On a boat, as pictured, are the panels best flat mounted as pictured and would they provide adequate cover from elements? If properly framed in of course.

Yes, it's ok to mount them flat, otherwise they will be blown away by the wind.
I want a Rec solar panel of 355W but in polycrystalline

At the moment we do not have any 355 W polycrystalline REC panels
So I am interested in buying six 355 watt panels to start my project which I will add to over the next several years. My question is where do I get the cables to connect everything? The splitters to connect the panels in series and then at the end of the line of panels the main home run connecting to the inverter which might be 20 to 30 feet away. oh how long are the cables attached to the panel itself? Thanks

This panel has 3.6 + 3.9 ft cables with MC4 connectors. Wi sell some addons, but at the moment cables are underrepresented. You can buy them elsewhere or choose one of our turnkey solutions by clicking on "Systems" at the very top of this page.
My question is about the number of cells. taking a REC 120 cell versus a mission 60 cell panel with some shading on them which will produce the most energy? this is hard to explain in writing. does having less cells shut off a bigger percentage of the panel if it has partial shading?im on a sailboat and i worry about the mast casting a partial shadow at different times of the day.thanks

Since solar cells are interconnected, the higher number of cells may give no advantage in terms of shading resistance. The number of bypass diodes seems a more relevant metric. For comparison, this model comes with 3 bypass diodes.

FAQ

How much is shipping and how long is delivery?
Our standard shipping charge is $250 for up to 11 panels and it is increased by $25 for every 4 additional panels. In the event, the product is only available on East or West coast custom quote will be sent to you before the order is processed. Normally, we are able to deliver solar panels within 7 business days.
What is the difference between low price panels and top price panels?
With top tier solar panels, you pay for the brand name, proprietary new technology, higher energy output, and better warranty support.
What are the dimensions of the panel?
Please refer to the product datasheet on the product page. We have a datasheet for every product we sell.
How long is the warranty on the panel?
In general, manufacturers provide a 25 year-long performance warranty and a 10 year-long equipment guarantee. Some manufacturers offer 12-15 years of warranty. More information is available in our warranty support section.
Which panels do you recommend for RV, marine?
We recommend Panasonic and Mission Solar panels for smaller systems as their high energy output and excellent craftsmanship guarantee years of service.
Can this panel be used with a 12v system?
Any of our panels can be used for a 12v system with a properly selected inverter and charge controller.
Can I pick up this panel from your fulfillment center to save on shipping?
Yes, we can set up a pick up at a local distributor. Please call to discuss options and stock availability.
How do I connect these panels?
To achieve the best system efficiency, panels should be connected in series to create higher voltage.
How many panels do I need?
This number is determined by your average energy needs. Depending on the type of panels and energy consumption, you might need anywhere from 12 to 45 solar panels. Remember, the more panels you install the more energy you will get. Please use our solar calculator to estimate your energy consumption and plan on building a solar system that will exceed your energy needs by 25%.
Do you offer discounts?
We do offer discounts for orders of over 50 units. Please contact us for details.
How do I build a solar system?
Please use our solar calculator to estimate what equipment you need. Choose your panels, microinverters, inverters, and solar batteries if necessary. Please note that we do not offer solar system design or installation.
How do solar panels compare?
Solar panels differ by power output, voltage, connection type, size, efficiency, and weight. Some solar panels might be sold together with microinverters as a set.
Can I build a solar system by myself as a Do It Yourself project?
Yes, it is possible if you understand what solar equipment you need and how to connect it together. However, please be mindful that handling your own electrical work without having proper experience might cause life-threatening injuries. Please contact a certified electrician if you do not possess appropriate electrical skills.
Can I connect and charge my solar panel battery directly with the solar panel?
We do not recommend using the solar panel without the charge controller. Using solar panels without the charge controller might damage the batteries.
Can I drill holes into the aluminum frame for mounting?
We do not recommend drilling any new holes to the aluminum frame of the panel as it could damage the internal circuit and solar cells. (Also, any modification to the panel will void the warranty). We recommend only using the pre-drilled holes for mounting.
Do solar panels require maintenance? Can I wash my solar panel?
Solar panels generally require very little maintenance. We recommend cleaning the solar panel with water, glass cleaner (Windex) and microfiber cloth.
Will my panel produce power in an overcast condition?
While solar panels require sunlight to generate solar energy, they will still work in cloudy weather. Even on a cloudy day, solar panels will produce energy just not as much.
Will my panels produce power if covered with snow?
Solar panels cannot produce electricity if covered with snow.
What is the best direction for a solar panel to face?
The best direction for a solar panel to face is the South
