The Rubix R-Series RRS51280 is a 48V LiFePO4 battery delivering 14.34kWh of usable capacity per unit — nearly three times the energy of a standard 5kWh residential module — in a stackable enclosure purpose-built for large residential and commercial energy storage systems. With 200A continuous discharge output, PWM Technology start-up support, and scalability to 917.5kWh across 64 parallel units, the RRS51280 is a high-capacity solar battery storage platform for installations where fewer units, fewer connections, and more energy per footprint are the priority.
ESS builds based on smaller-format batteries require more units, more cabling runs, more BMS connections, and more potential failure points. The RRS51280 reduces that complexity at the source — 14.34kWh per unit means a four-battery stack reaches 57.3kWh in the same footprint that smaller formats need far more units to match. Prismatic LiFePO4 (lithium iron phosphate) cells with welded busbar connections and Impactiv balancing at 2A maintain pack consistency across up to 7,000 rated cycles at 50% depth of discharge.
The RRS51280 is designed for 48V inverter systems running a LiFePO4 charging profile: recommended absorb 56.8V (57.6V max solar only), float 54.4V, absorb done at 4% of battery capacity over a 10-minute period. PWM Technology start-up is built in for inverter initialization support. Install horizontally using the included base unit indoors only — IP50 rated, not suitable for outdoor installation. Minimum clearances: 1 in. from walls, 1 in. between parallel stacks, 6 in. between the stack top and wall-mounted solar equipment, and 4 ft. from any water source or conductor. Maximum 4 batteries per stack; up to 64 in parallel. Dual M8 stainless steel bolt-on terminals; max terminal torque 18 ft-lbs. Battery weight: 271 lbs. per unit.
