The SolarEdge SE3800H-USMNBBL14 is a 3,800W single-phase grid-tie string inverter built on SolarEdge's HD-Wave technology, designed for residential solar installations on standard 240V split-phase service. As a SolarEdge HD-Wave inverter, it operates exclusively with SolarEdge power optimizers — a fixed-voltage DC architecture that enables longer strings, built-in module-level monitoring, and 99% peak conversion efficiency in a fanless, weatherproof enclosure.
Conventional string inverters rely on large inductors and capacitors to smooth the AC output waveform. SolarEdge's HD-Wave technology replaces those magnetics with a distributed switching network and software-defined waveform synthesis — shrinking the unit to an exceptionally compact form factor while achieving 99% peak efficiency. Less hardware inside the enclosure also means fewer components that can wear or fail over a 12–25 year service life.
When paired with SolarEdge power optimizers, the SE3800H-USMNBBL14 receives and transmits performance data from every individual panel to the SolarEdge monitoring platform via its standard RS485 or Ethernet connection. Homeowners and installers can view panel-by-panel output, identify underperforming modules, and track system production — all through the SolarEdge monitoring portal or app — without purchasing a separate monitoring gateway. ZigBee or cellular communication modules are available as optional add-ons where Ethernet is not practical.
The inverter satisfies NEC 2014 and 2017 rapid shutdown requirements (Articles 690.11 and 690.12) through automatic DC de-energization when AC grid power is disconnected — no external rapid shutdown device is required. Integrated AFCI protection, certified to UL1699B and Canadian requirements per T.I.L. M-07, detects arc faults on the DC side and shuts down the array before a fault can escalate. It accepts 1–2 DC input strings via 3/4" minimum conduit with 14–6 AWG wire, and connects to the AC panel via 3/4" minimum conduit with 14–6 AWG.
