Hybrid design for maximum flexibility

The Sunny Boy Smart Energy 9.6 kW inverter merges PV and battery functionality in a single unit, eliminating the need for separate inverters or complex system integration. It supports up to 19200 Wp of PV array input and a wide 90–500 V battery voltage range, enabling smooth operation across a variety of configurations. This makes it ideal for both new installations and system upgrades where future battery integration is planned.

Fast, simple installation

With its compact, lightweight design and 2-in-1 hybrid functionality, the Smart Energy inverter saves space, reduces electrical upgrades, and simplifies setup. Installers benefit from rapid commissioning using the SMA 360° app, while the integrated SunSpec rapid shutdown transmitter ensures NEC compliance without the need for external devices.

Reliable power and safety built in

The Smart Energy series is engineered for long-term dependability with a 10-year standard warranty (extendable to 25 years). It includes arc-fault detection (AFCI), ground fault protection, and residual current monitoring to ensure safe operation. The system’s SMA Backup Secure feature provides up to 1920 W of backup power during grid outages, maintaining essential loads even without a battery.

Smart energy management and connectivity

Powered by ennexOS, SMA’s intelligent energy management platform, the Smart Energy inverter integrates seamlessly with SMA Energy Apps and OPTICS RE for real-time performance tracking, smart load control, and remote diagnostics. Communication options include WLAN, Ethernet, Speedwire, and Modbus protocols, offering full system visibility and control.
