Inverters operate better in cooler environments. Don’t mount it in direct sunlight. Keep it shaded if you want to prolong its lifespan and increase efficiency.

Can I put it on the outer wall of my house?

Yes, this inverter can be installed outdoors. It is encased in a NEMA 3R enclosure, which protects it against most elements. Keep it away from heated areas and large sources of water vapor.

The SMA "-41" Series Sunny Boy inverter, featuring SunSpec signal transmitter chip, is one of the most versatile residential inverters available. Combine this series with the SMA-TS4-R-F in order to build cost effective NEC 2017 PV RSS compliant string systems, or pair with SMA-TS4-R "-S" / "-O" (and comms gateway) to provide module level monitoring / optimization (respectively). Or leave all the rooftop electronics behind and design the system to take full advantage of the Secure Power Supply (SPS feature not Compatible with Sunspec based PV RSS). 600V max system DCV, compatible with both 240V and 208V sites, and backed by SMA's Power customer service package.
