Example of KVA to Amps Calculations

To convert kilovolt-amperes (kVA) to amperes (A), you need to know the voltage (V) and the power factor (PF) of the load. The formula to convert kVA to amps is:

Amps = (kVA × 1000) / (Volts × Power Factor)

Assuming a common power factor of 0.8 for these calculations.

Table of kVA to Amps Conversions

Below is a table showing the conversion of various kilovolt-amperes values to amperes sorted from smallest to largest, assuming a voltage of 240V and a power factor of 0.8.

Convert 1 kVA to Amps

To convert 1 kVA to amps at 240V with a power factor of 0.8:

Amps = (1 × 1000) / (240 × 0.8) = 5.21 Amps

Convert 100 kVA to Amps

To convert 100 kVA to amps at 240V with a power factor of 0.8:

Amps = (100 × 1000) / (240 × 0.8) = 520.83 Amps

Convert 600 kVA to Amps

To convert 600 kVA to amps at 240V with a power factor of 0.8:

Amps = (600 × 1000) / (240 × 0.8) = 3125 Amps
