Solaria 400W Solar Panel Monocrystalline Black PowerX-400R-4T...

We have 2 x Solaria 400w panels on our monohull sailboat, fastened atop an aft solar arch that doubles as a dinghy davit system. Each panel feeds to their own Victron 100/50 controller for redundancy. We bought these over 2 years ago at ~$400 apiece and would absolutely replace with the same if need be as they work like a charm and look fantastic in all black unlike the doubly priced Renegy panels marketed as “marine” that most cruisers use. The allowance of charging even when partially shaded due to Solaria’s wiring setup also makes them ideal for boats where boom shading is an ever-present challenge. The original set we ordered were damaged in transit and replaced immediately by a1 at no extra charge to us, so shoutout to a1 for excellent customer support as well. My only regret is that we don’t have any storage space aboard to keep more of these panels as backups should the need ever arise!

The panels are working fine so far. I run an 8kW system, 5kW to the feed-in. The 8 allows quicker start-up. I have panels on two sides: East and West. I try to select what time or days that I need more power. Hot water system runs when I turn it on, not off-peak. A good system, I am quite happy with it so far. Hoping it keeps working top grade for years to come, even with a cold winter and price rises on the way. I still believe the system will keep in front.

Our standard shipping charge is $250 for up to 11 panels and it is increased by $25 for every 4 additional panels. In the event, the product is only available on East or West coast custom quote will be sent to you before the order is processed. What is the difference between low price panels and top price panels?

With top tier solar panels, you pay for the brand name, proprietary new technology, higher energy output, and better warranty support.

What are the dimensions of the panel?

How long is the warranty on the panel?

In general, manufacturers provide a 25 year-long performance warranty and a 10 year-long equipment guarantee. Some manufacturers offer 12-15 years of warranty. More information is available in our warranty support section.

Which panels do you recommend for RV, marine?

We recommend Panasonic and Mission Solar panels for smaller systems as their high energy output and excellent craftsmanship guarantee years of service.

Can this panel be used with a 12v system?

Any of our panels can be used for a 12v system with a properly selected inverter and charge controller.

Can I pick up this panel from your fulfillment center to save on shipping?

How do I connect these panels?

To achieve the best system efficiency, panels should be connected in series to create higher voltage.

How do solar panels compare?

Solar panels differ by power output, voltage, connection type, size, efficiency, and weight. Some solar panels might be sold together with microinverters as a set.

Can I build a solar system by myself as a Do It Yourself project?

Yes, it is possible if you understand what solar equipment you need and how to connect it together. However, please be mindful that handling your own electrical work without having proper experience might cause life-threatening injuries. Please contact a certified electrician if you do not possess appropriate electrical skills.

Can I connect and charge my solar panel battery directly with the solar panel?

We do not recommend using the solar panel without the charge controller. Using solar panels without the charge controller might damage the batteries.

Can I drill holes into the aluminum frame for mounting?

We do not recommend drilling any new holes to the aluminum frame of the panel as it could damage the internal circuit and solar cells. (Also, any modification to the panel will void the warranty). We recommend only using the pre-drilled holes for mounting.

Do solar panels require maintenance? Can I wash my solar panel?

Solar panels generally require very little maintenance. We recommend cleaning the solar panel with water, glass cleaner (Windex) and microfiber cloth.

Will my panel produce power in an overcast condition?

While solar panels require sunlight to generate solar energy, they will still work in cloudy weather. Even on a cloudy day, solar panels will produce energy just not as much.

Will my panels produce power if covered with snow?

Solar panels cannot produce electricity if covered with snow.

With this model the engineers have reworked the structure of a solar panel and achieved the efficiency of over 20% plus improved appearance of a module. The uniform black surface makes the panel look stylish on the roof of any house. The panel is suitable both for residential and commercial use.

High Efficiency of over 20%

Solaria PowerXT 370W solar panel shows 20.5% efficiency whereas conventional PV modules only reach 15-17%. Better efficiency allows you to harvest more energy with fewer modules and less space.

Weather & High Temperatures

The tests show that PowerXT retains good power output even when irradiance falls down due to cloudy weather. High temperatures don’t pose a serious threat to panel’s performance: the temperature coefficient of Pmax is at -0.39% per °C. What is more, Solaria PowerXT 370W solar panel has 4 bypass diodes in its construction which improves the overall shading tolerance of a PV module.

Enhanced Resiliency

The frame is made of black anodized aluminium. The PV module is able to withstand the 5600 PA load on the front and 3600 Pa load on the rear side. Solar cells are protected by a 3.2 mm layer of tempered glass.

All-Black Aesthetics

The appearance is where Solaria panels outshine most of their competitors. With PowerXT, Solaria engineers have reduced the space between cells which made the appearance of a panel more uniform and appealing. Black backsheet and frame make this solar panel look outstanding on top of the house.

25 Year Product and Performance Warranty

For the PowerXT 370W model the Solaria Corporation gives a 25 year manufacturer warranty and also 25 year performance warranty — the power output of a module should not drop below 86% of minimum performance.
