HT-SAAE used to make solar panels for satellites and now you can buy them to use here on Earth. How cool is that? Let’s explore them in our HT-SAAE solar panels review.
HT-SAAE’s journey began back in 1960 with developing solar technology for China’s satellite program. In 2000, HT-SAAE began to transfer their photovoltaic designs to commercial applications.
The “HT” in the company’s name stands for “Hangtian” – the Mandarin abbreviation for “aerospace”. The “SAAE” part means “Aerospace Automotive Electromechanical” – other major industries HT-SAAE is engaged in.
With four production bases in inner Mongolia, Turkey, and China, HT-SAAE has built a vertically integrated production chain from silicon to modules, supervising every step of solar panel manufacturing. Nine marketing centers in Europe, Asia, Australia and both Americas, secure HT-SAAE’s global presence, establishing it as a Tier 1 panel manufacturer.
HT-SAAE offers a diverse range of solar panels, featuring both N-type and traditional P-type modules. Let’s take a closer look at these two technologies.
The difference between N-type and P-type solar cells is the doping material used to “charge” silicon wafers. P-type cells rely on boron, while N-type cells use phosphorus. Unlike phosphorus, boron is susceptible to degradation from oxygen. That’s why panels with P-type cells lose more power in the first year of operation: 2-3% against 1% of N-type cells.
In the 1960s, solar panels were supposed for use in space. Since P-type solar cells are more radiation resistant, researchers focused primarily on them. That’s why most of the panels on the market come with P-type cells. However, N-type cells demonstrate higher efficiency and with the active adoption of solar energy in our daily life, the share of N-type panels on the market is now growing.
TOPCon technology, short for Tunnel Oxide Passivated Contact, takes N-type solar cells one more step further. TOPCon cells have thin tunnel oxide and polysilicon layers between the silicon and metal contacts. It is a relatively new solar cell technology seen as an upgrade to the popular PERC technology, offering higher efficiency, better performance, and easier manufacturing.
430W - 670W
power output
HT-SAAE’s solar panels cover a wide spectrum of power outputs, catering to every roof size and energy demand. N-type modules range from 415W to 585W. P-type panels are between 395W and 670W. Efficiency falls between 21.2% and 22.6% of N-type and between 20.2% and 21.7% of P-type, placing them on par with industry standards.
25-30 years
product and performance warranty
A standout feature of HT-SAAE panels is their impressive warranty package. Both product and performance warranties span 25 for P-type to 30 years for N-type. With P-type, you can expect at least 83% of the initial power output after 25 years, while N-type modules reach an impressive 87% after 30 years. This translates to sustained energy production and a high return on investment over the panel’s lifespan.
$0.5 to $0.8
price per watt
When it comes to price, HT-SAAE strikes a balance between performance and affordability. The price per watt falls somewhere between $0.5 – $0.8. Topcon N-type models can be more expensive than P-type alternatives.
Now let’s take a glance at the sunbeams and shadows of HT-SAAE solar panels. What do these panels shine with?
✓ Top-notch power output: Ranging from a modest 395W for budget-friendly models to a powerful 670W for cutting-edge modules, there’s an option for every roof size and energy demand.
✓ Exceptional efficiency: HT-SAAE solar panels achieve efficiency levels between 20.2% and 22.6%, translating to increased energy production.
✓ Impressive warranty: A comprehensive 25 to 30-year warranty, coupled with guaranteed performance levels, instills confidence in the durability and reliability of HT-SAAE solar panels. The company’s long existence in the market only reinforces the confidence – if something goes wrong even after 20 years, you will get what is warrantied.
✓ Diverse product range: HT-SAAE offers a variety of solar panels, including Topcon N-type and P-type modules, allowing customers to choose the most suitable option based on specific project requirements.
Panels seem perfect in every way, but are they? Here are some things we’re not happy about:
✗ Limited market presence: Despite broad net of marketing centers all over the world, HT-SAAE solar panels might not be readily available in all regions, while pricing details are scarce, making direct price comparisons challenging.
✗ Fewer user reviews: Due to limited market presence, finding detailed user feedback might be challenging.
In my opinion, the biggest issue with HT-SAAE is the brand name. Can you imagine two people talking and one saying “Oh yeah, HT-SAAE solar panels are really good”? Yes, it’s an abbreviation, I get it, but when your company’s name is THAT hard to pronounce and memorize, it becomes a problem.
Time to review real panels from HT-SAAE. Let’s see what the company can treat us with.
HT54-18X Black offers a reliable solution for residential small-scale solar installations. This 108 half-cell monocrystalline panel combines power outputs ranging from 395 to 415W with efficiencies between 20.2 and 21.2%. The panel boasts a 25-year warranty on both product and performance, guaranteeing at least 83% of its initial power output even after 25 years. While not the absolute strongest competitor in terms of pure power output, its attractive price makes it a good option for homeowners seeking a solid, cost-effective solar solution.
Boasting a 465-485W output and a remarkable 21.5-22.4% efficiency, HT60-18X(N) Panda takes more energy from sunlight than its previous counterpart. But that’s not all – it loses a minimal 1% power during the first year, retaining an impressive 89.4% of its initial capability after 25 years, and 87.4% after 30 years. This combination of power, efficiency, and longevity makes the Panda panel a compelling choice for homes seeking a reliable, long-lasting solar solution.
The HT66-210 panel stands out for its impressive power output of 650-670W, while its efficiency falls between 20.9% and 21.6%. This panel is suitable for large-scale solar installations and ideal for maximizing electricity generation in limited space. Further adding is the 25-year product and performance warranty, guaranteeing at least 83% of its initial power output after 25 years. The HT66-210 offers a balance of high power output and decent efficiency, making it a strong contender for larger solar projects.
