Good alternativeSimpliPhi was launched in 2002 as the LibertyPak company, and has been perfecting its innovative energy storage and management technology ever since. SimpliPhi specialises in lithium ion batteries, as this battery chemistry offers greater efficiency and safety compared to lead-acid batteries. The American company provides numerous solutions for various on-grid and off-the-grid applications.
If you decided to purchase SimpliPhi batteries for your solar PV system, you need to estimate how much wattage you will need to store. To do that, you need to calculate your daily energy needs with the help of electrical meters or recent electricity bills. You can also do it manually, by multiplying the power ratings of your household appliances by their hours in use one by one. If you want your battery to cover your energy needs for one day or more, multiply your daily needs by the number of days you plan to use your battery.
When sizing a lithium ion battery, it is also advised to take into account the depth of discharge (DOD) – discharging solar batteries below that level on a regular basis is harmful for them. A huge advantage of SimpliPhi solar batteries is that they can be discharged by more than 80% and recharged back again. However, remember that constant deep discharge leads to an early death of a battery.
