In this section of our website we’ve gathered all the 132 cell solar panels that are available at the moment. This type of panel is somewhat of a compromise between the modules that are typically used in home installations and the ones that are more popular in commercial systems.
For a solar panel 132 cell is not the most popular size, but some manufacturers do like to add an extra layer of solar cells to a standard 60/120-cell panel for a bit of extra power. All 132-cell modules feature half-cut cell design: a solar cell is split in half with a laser. A 66-cell panel is thus the same size as a 132-cell one. Generally, 132-cell panels provide around 380-420 Watts of power.
Provide higher output than more common 60/120-cell panels.
Half-cut cell design provides better shading tolerance, higher power output per square foot and improved reliability.
A great choice both for residential and commercial installations.
132 cell solar panel cost highly depends on the brand. Keep in mind that not every manufacturer offers panels of this design and this number of cells.
The rule of thumb is that Asian PV modules are generally the cheapest. Panels from brands like JA Solar, Jinko Solar, Trina come at $0.5-0.8 per watt. Canadian Solar, though it is based in Canada, is a semi-Chinese brand and its panels are also very affordable. American solar panels (Silfab, Mission Solar) generally have moderate prices and their quality is higher on average. There are brands with premium-class panels which cost over $1 per watt, such as Panasonic, LG, REC, Solaria, Sunpower and some others.
The dimensions of a 132-cell solar panel again depend on the model and the manufacturer. You would think that these panels should be just slightly bigger than standard 60-cell panels that are 39 × 66 inches but still smaller than 72/144-cell panels. In reality, it is not always the case. For example, the Canadian Solar Hiku Black 132-cell module is 76 x 41 inches in size which is just about the same size as the average 72-cell panel. Overall, a standard 132-cell panel should be approximately 40 × 71 inches in dimensions.
