Sunmac Solar panel review 2024: Under the radar

The US welcomes a new player in the solar game: Sunmac Solar. What do we know about this newcomer and are their panels worth your investment? Let’s find it out in our Sunmac Solar panels review.

Sunmac Solar is a new small solar company

Headquartered in Irvine, California
Founded in 2022
Solar panels are made in Cambodia

There is little information about Sunmac Solar. Beyond a vague claim of selling “high efficiency PERC PV modules at an extremely competitive price”, there’s nothing on their website. Sunmac Solar was founded in 2022, according to their LinkedIn profile. The datasheets say the company is based in Irvine, California. The panels are not made in the US though: Sunmac Solar acknowledges they import their modules from their partners in Cambodia.

There aren’t many details about their Asian suppliers, except the fact that their manufacturing capacity amounts to 2GW annually. For the high-volume Asian solar panel market, these are rookie numbers. Leading names like Jinko Solar operate at a staggering 100GW annually.

Sunmac Solar panels: Not bad?

Sunmac solar panels deliver between 355 and 555 watts of power. A bit small for commercial installations, but enough for home solar systems. When it comes to efficiency, Sunmac solar panels boast efficiencies ranging from 19.5% to 21.5%, not great, but still competitive within the industry.

product and performance warranty

Sunmac offers a 25-year warranty covering both product and performance. The product warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship, while the power output warranty guarantees 84.8% of the original output after 25 years of operation. Bear in mind that Sunmac was founded only in 2022 and it’s a small company. The statistics show that 50% of businesses in the US go bankrupt in the first 5 years of operation. If things go bad for the company, no one will give your money back.

price per watt

Pricing seems to be a significant advantage of Sunmac solar panels, starting at about $0.6–$0.8 per watt. But it’s only at first sight. The market offers panels with way better characteristics from more recognized brands for about the same price.

Sunmac Solar panels: Pros

It’s time to break down the bright and dark sides of Sunmac solar panels. What we like about their panels:

✓ Nice residential option: Sunmac offers not bad modules for home solar systems. Average specifications at an average price. Nothing extra.

Sunmac Solar panels: Cons

Still, there are clear disadvantages of Sunmac Solar panels that we have to point out. Here’s what we don’t like about Sunmac:

✗ Wasteland of information: Sunmac’s website offers little to no information on their experience in the solar industry. The lack of transparency surrounding Sunmac makes it difficult to assess the quality of their modules. Without details on the manufacturing process and materials used, it’s hard to suggest how well Sunmac panels will perform over time.

✗ Scarcity of customer reviews: There seem to be very few, if any, real online reviews from homeowners who have installed Sunmac panels. This makes it difficult to gauge real-world performance, satisfaction, and potential issues. This reinforces the concerns about the brand’s overall transparency and potentially adds another layer of risk to choosing them.

A1 SolarStore verdict: Tell the world about yourself

To round up our Sunmac Solar panel review, let’s list the most important points about the company and their panels:

  • Sunmac Solar was supposedly founded in 2022.

  • The company is headquartered in California but imports solar panels from Asia.

  • Panel’s power output ranges from 355W to 555W, while their efficiency floats from 19.5% to 21.5%.

  • Solar panels are backed up with a 25-year product and performance warranty.

  • The company offers solar panels for home and commercial projects.

If what we’ve learned about Sumac Solar so far is correct, then Sunmac Solar is a small and very young company. Early years in the business are tough and it’s understandable that the company hasn’t got around yet to keep their customers informed about who they are, what they do and how they do it.

Still, the lack of transparency regarding their manufacturing partners and production facilities raises concerns about quality control and potential risks. Hopefully, they’ll do well on the market, tell the world about it and maybe then this review will get a positive update. With that, we end our Sunmac Solar panels review.
