- Certifications & warranty — NEC 2014, 2017, and 2020, UL1741, UL1741 SA (Rule 21 / CPUC), IEEE1547, UL1699B AFCI; inverter 12–25 year warranty; optimizer 25-year warranty
Who this kit is for
- Residential rooftop, 7.6 kW class — sized for homes consuming roughly 750–1150 kWh/month, this system can offset most or all grid draw depending on location and roof orientation.
- Shading-affected roofs — chimneys, trees, or adjacent structures cause string-level mismatch losses on conventional inverters; each S440 recovers output independently at the module.
- California and Hawaii installations — UL1741 SA certification and Rule 21 compliance satisfy interconnection requirements for most utilities in CA and HI without additional grid-support hardware.
- Backup & EV ready — specifically designed for homeowners who want to add a battery (SolarEdge Energy Bank or LG RESU) or a smart EV charger now or in the future.
- SolarEdge Home Ecosystem — specifically designed for homeowners using the SolarEdge Energy Bank battery for a fully integrated, single-manufacturer backup solution.
How the components connect
Each S440 optimizer mounts directly behind its corresponding solar panel and connects to the panel via MC4 input leads (3.94 in. / 0.1 m input wire). The 15 optimizers daisy-chain into a single DC string that runs to the SE7600H's DC input terminals (3/4" minimum conduit, 14–6 AWG, 1–2 strings supported). The inverter converts the fixed-voltage DC string to 240V single phase AC for connection to the main service panel (3/4" minimum conduit, 14–6 AWG AC output). SetApp commissioning is completed from a smartphone over the inverter's built-in Wi-Fi — no laptop or separate commissioning gateway required. Built-in rapid shutdown (NEC 2014, 2017, and 2020, Article 690.12) activates automatically on AC grid disconnect; the S440 drops each panel to 1 Vdc standby without additional hardware. Buyers will additionally need: solar panels (any brand, up to 440W rated per panel; panels up to approximately 380W each align with SolarEdge's per-string power guideline), racking, AC/DC breakers, conduit, and field wiring.
